One child who is orphaned, abused, or abandoned is one child too many.
Lesotho is often called “The Forgotten Kingdom”. Many people don’t realize that in this beautiful, mountainous country, orphans make up 30% of the child population.
For two decades, the AIDS crisis devastated Lesotho. An entire generation lost mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, teachers, and caregivers. Currently, more than 50% of the population is under the age of 24. They are doing their best to raise the next generation and desperately need our help to break cycles of abuse, abandonment, and neglect.

Lesotho doesn’t have an orphan crisis — it has a family separation crisis.
The vast majority of orphans still have living family members, many of whom are struggling with their own overwhelming circumstances. When orphans and vulnerable children are not cared for in a safe, nurturing home, their risk of exploitation, trafficking, child marriages, and abuse skyrockets.
We work to make homes into safe havens by strengthening families and mobilizing communities to protect and nurture children.
Since 2007 we have not only provided critical care for children in crisis, but we have established an infrastructure that reunites children to their families or extended family through our programs and services. With every child we help, a family is restored, and a nation is healed.
